Lubbock’s only dedicated indoor pickleball facility
Welcome to Lubbock Indoor Pickleball (LIP), a unique new sporting facility in the Hub City.
LIP is Lubbock’s ONLY dedicated indoor pickleball facility – there’s no tennis being played here, we don’t share our pickleball courts with youth basketball teams, and our nets are not portable. LIP is also Lubbock-owned and operated – we live and work and play here on the South Plains just like you do! LIP has five (5) full-size courts and two (2) skinny courts (for singles play as well as dinking and drills). Best of all, LIP is fully heated and air-conditioned for your playing comfort!

Pickleball Through The Years
Pickleball, a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, was first created in 1965 in Bainbridge Island, Washington, by three fathers looking to give their bored children a new activity by using a hodgepodge of other sports as inspiration. From this modest beginning, pickleball has been America’s fastest-growing sport for the past three years. In 2023, there were 36.5 million players nationwide!
So…Just What IS Pickleball?
Pickleball is like tennis, but the court is smaller and the pickleball moves more slowly than a tennis ball. These differences, and many others, make pickleball more accessible for a wider variety of individuals. Pickleball players range in age from 8 to 80 and above! Pickleball provides physical and mental exercise, and a likely mental health boost – a trifecta of wellness! Most of all, pickleball is an extremely social sport – while competitive, that competition is often all in good fun and it is easy to observe the obvious camaraderie from the sidelines.
